Concurrent Users (CCU) are the number of users connected to the CometChat platform at a given time (eg: 1,000 CCU on March 1st).

Peak Concurrent Users (PCU) are number of users connected to the CometChat platform in a given month (eg: 5,000 PCU for the month of March).

Just to provide you with a little bit more clarity, CCU are calculated as the maximum number of devices connected to the CometChat server. If the same user is connected using two different devices at the same time, it will be considered as 2 CCU.

In the case of users logging through web browsers, every browser tab is considered a "new" device. Even if the users are not talking, they are still connected to the our servers exchanging presence, real-time events, and receiving incoming messages. If a users PC goes to sleep, the connection will be broken; thus ending the CometChat session.

For mobile apps, if the app is in background state, then the real-time connection to CometChat’s servers breaks, and the user is no longer considered concurrent.

πŸ’‘ Each of our App Developer plans comes with a 5% concurrency
included! For Single or Unlimited event plans, they will come with
a 100% concurrency rate. For more information, please visit our
pricing page below:
πŸ’‘ If you exceed your CCU limit, you will be automatically charged an
overage fee of $1 per additional concurrent user

πŸ’‘ Historical data around your CCU (plus more) can be found within
your dashboard under "Analytics"

πŸ’‘ Usage metrics for the current billing cycle will be
provided for you within your dashboard under "Plans & Billing"
