📖 1-minute read

Monthly active users (MAU) are defined as the number of users that have performed any activity on CometChat within the last 30 days.

Depending on how you are programmatically logging in your users into your platform, this will ultimately decide whether or not they will be classified as 1 MAU. For example, if User A is logged in once they load the chat window, User A will be classified as 1 MAU. Our system identifies the UID as a user and not the Auth Token. So even if the user logs in through multiple devices, they will still be considered as 1 MAU.

Users must log in through the SDK to be counted as active users. If you are simply creating users via API, they will not count towards your monthly usage until that user has actually logged into the CometChat system.

⚠️ If you exceed your monthly MAU limit, you will automatically be charged an overage fee of $0.05 per additional MAU

💡 Historical data around your MAU (plus more) can be found within your dashboard under "Analytics"

💡 Your usage metrics for the current billing cycle will be provided for you within your dashboard under "Plans & Billing"
