Concurrent Users (CCU) are the number of users connected to the CometChat platform at a given time (eg: 1,000 CCU on March 1st).
Peak Concurrent Users (PCU) are the highest number of users connected to the CometChat platform in a given billing period (eg: 5,000 PCU for your March billing).

To provide you with a bit more clarity, CCUs are calculated as the maximum number of devices connected to the CometChat server. If the same user is connected using two different devices at the same time, they will be considered as 2 CCU. In this case, each WebSocket connection will be counted. Therefore, if a user has multiple devices/tabs/browsers, they will be considered separate connections. Lastly, if a user's PC goes into the sleep state, the connection will be terminated; thus ending the CometChat session.

For mobile apps, if the app is in the background state, then the real-time connection to CometChatโ€™s servers breaks, and the user is no longer considered concurrent.
